First comes love, then comes marriage...

Well, I'm pretty sure we've told everyone we intended to tell directly, so it should be safe to post the news now.  I know some relatives have been waiting patiently for this post (and I'm pretty sure some gave up hope of ever hearing news like this during their lifetime).  Fear not, relatives!  The big event has happened!  Ryan and I are pregnant!

 Me at 12 weeks along.  My belly must shrink whenever I get in front of a camera--maybe baby is camera shy?--because I sure feel a lot bigger than this!  (Need to work on that posture, girl...)

This will be our first little bopper and we're very excited.  We don't know if he's a him or her yet but I'm an old fashioned grammar person so I'll be calling him a him regardless...until we find out. :)

I've added a little baby countdown ticker to the blog.  It should be hovering directly above the posts.  It'll keep track of how far along I am in the pregnancy, and since babies can't read calenders we'll just say that I'm due in March.

I found that particular ticker a few years ago and have been saving it in my Favorites ever since.  Yay!  I finally get to use it. :)

Now, if you'll excuse me I need to go eat something.  It's been an hour since my last meal and I'm starving.  Eating for two...oi!

Patty Cat

My sister was telling me over the phone yesterday how she and hubby are trying to teach their son to "pat" their pet cats gently. The mental image of him just whacking away at poor Sam or Bug was too funny to keep to myself. :)

I don't plan on coloring this one because I think it's just fine as is, and I don't want to accidentally lose the cat's expression by adding anything else to the drawing.

We're back... temporarily

Weeee! It's finished!

Okay, so we're back in civilization for a short while. We won't be done in the field until late August, so don't expect any reliable updating (have I ever done reliable updating?) until then.

When we got home, after living in a cabin in the woods (albeit a nice cabin) we were surprised to discover that we'd forgotten how much we liked our apartment. It was like it was brand new all over again. Woo! And though we weren't surprised to be living in town again, and have internet access in our home again, it was a bit liberating to be able to connect to the world whenever I want to. I guess I was inspired. :)

Unfortunately I don't have any pictures of our adventures in the field (Ryan has all the cool summer pictures on his laptop), so you'll have to be content with my doodling for now.
